  BOAK // DEADBEAT - split 7"

  Two similar-sounding grindcore bands from either side of the Atlantic, here. Deadbeat are approximately the 114th band to call themselves 'Deadbeat' and come from LA. They play mean, grinding hc that nods to Nails, Terror and Repulsion. It all sounds fairly serviceable. BOAK are from Aberdeen and also play mean, grinding hc. While it's not as fiery or fancy as the stuff the stuff on the SuperFi 7" they win out here thanks to a brawnier, more threatening sound that booms out at you with scant regard for your comfort or wellbeing. Ok, then.
